When There is No National Project

In the absence of national projects, nations and civilizations get perished. States fall apart when their political parties are obstinate to jointly develop a national project that aims at making their respective states welcoming homes for their respective inhabitants and citizens. National project is a foundational bedrock without which nations will doubtlessly fall prey to the turbulence of life dynamism. Without national project a nation will doubtlessly fail to develop a healthy national strategic plan and as it is said failing to plan is planning to fail.

Proactive actions and steps are desperately needed to be taken on the part of national leadership. Amateur or mediocre leadership must not be allowed to take the lead of this country in the future, enough is enough. Sustainable and just peace is undoubtedly coming to prevail and dominate in spite of the vicious campaigns of these barbarous war’s advocates and supporters. Sustainability of peace is intrinsically maintained and connected with a robust national project. No healthy national project, no sustainable peace. No sustainable peace, no sustainable development. Robust national project, sustainable peace, and sustainable development represent the three sides of the life triangle without which life cycle remains incomplete and that the brutal war will again erupt, more deadly and more savagely. These three elements and sides of the triangle are complementing one another, they are organically interrelated and inseparable.

A nation without a national project is an aimless nation, is a nation without a compass, a nation without a direction or purpose. A national project is the walking stick that guides nations towards their respective visions. A nation without that walking stick will end up to nowhere. A nation without national project is a chaotic and disjointed nation. A nation without national project is a real heavy burden on the shoulder of humanity and other world nations.

Robust national project is the responsibility of high-quality leadership, visionary leaders who have the capacities to envision beyond and behind and beyond the offing. Vision-oriented leaders whose sole interest is to wisely leverage the country’s resources in building the infrastructural facilities and services as well as superstructural capacities of their citizens. It is unfortunate that we are always in short supply of such high-quality leadership. Paradoxically, this same country is full to the brim with dwarf leaders who are accustomed to chasing mice and wrestling windmills. This same unfortunate country is full to the brim with visually impaired leaders whose interests are self-centered, self-served, and lack the capacities to see beyond the tips of their noses.

Sudan is a country of wonders. It is unique in its nature and nurture. A country with a controversial identity since its political independence. A country with no Constant Constitution since its political independence. A country with forty plus million political leaders and forty plus political parties. A country with no National Project since its political independence. A country with no agreed-upon Strategic Plan or Road Map since its political independence. A country under the control of its Military Establishment for more than sixty years since its political independence. A country whose citizens have never been at ease since its political independence. A county whose National Army is accustomed to launching brutal crackdown campaigns on its own citizens since its political independence. A country whose National Army has never fired a bullet to liberate its occupied lands nevertheless 80% plus of the National Income is being syphoned into its treasure. A country whose successive civilian governments and military regimes have intentionally kept refusing to stand at the same or equal distance from the religious and cultural diversities of their own citizens. A country whose ten thousand plus Civil Society Organizations are visually impaired to cause any significant change in the country. A country whose forces of corruption and persecution are rampaging the entire county with absolute impunity. A country whose professional professors, intellectuals, academicians are intentional shelved while their idiots are taking the lead of everything. A country whose area was once upon time the largest area in Africa, and due to the mismanagement and selfishness of its bad leadership, has been split into two fragile states. A country whose Territorial Integrity has been eroding since its political independence. a country whose Sovereignty has been smearing and soiling since its political independence. A country whose Almighty God has endowed it with abundance of natural resources and all sorts of climates nevertheless their successive Military Regimes and Civilian Governments have been adamant and reluctant to deliver on their promises to their own people. A country whose Military Establishment has wittingly refused to practice its noble Military Mission and Creed and wittingly plunged itself into the quagmire of politics in which its knowledge about it is below zero. A country that has been designated as the sick man of Africa since its political independence. A country whose National Armed Forces are specialized in killing and brutalizing its own citizens in millions under the pretext of fake dignity and glory to gun slogan since its political independence. gentle readers, men and ladies, one can tirelessly keep counting the wonders of this unfortunate country till the cows come home.

The questions that the Sudanese people have kept asking themselves are as follows: ‘Where have we gone wrong to be plagued by such low-quality dwarf political leaders and idiot military leadership?’ Where did the rain start beating us, the Sudanese people? What is that heinous crime that we had committed in order to be punished in such a brutal and barbaric manner since gaining our political independence? and when are we going to get relieved? When are we going to be at ease? When are we going to get rid of these bad political parties, and these notorious military regimes? When are we going to liberate ourselves from the shackles of this dilemma? When are we going to establish vision-oriented and competent Civil Society Organizations that perfectly well know their purposes, missions and visions?

I would like to conclude by saying that all these misfortunes and calamities are mainly or basically attributable to the bad governance and selfish leadership of the sectarian political parties which were at the helm and cockpit in 1956. Situations wouldn’t have been escalated into such a dimension, had they engaged and embraced the representatives of Sudanese citizens. Things wouldn’t have been deteriorated to that extent, if they had summoned the Sudanese stakeholders for further discussions and dialogues in order to develop a consensus with regard to a comprehensive national project that responds to the needs, interests and ambitions of the Sudanese nations.

Have I not told you that national project is a prerequisite and imperative for sustainable peace, stability, and sustainable development and that its absence causes all this catastrophic dilemma?
