Diversity management is the most suitable framework for governing a country such as Sudan, populated by over 580 tribes and ethnic groups. Such a nation, with citizens from diverse backgrounds, cannot logically or reasonably be efficiently ruled by short-sighted leadership.
Sudan is an exceptionally diverse country characterized by vast differences in ethnicity, religion, politics, society, culture, economy, language, geography, and climate. Such diversity necessitates leadership with a high-caliber, vision-oriented approach. As I previously said, Sudan is bitterly suffering from short-sighted leadership. It is because of that short-sighted leadership that wars and violent conflicts dominate the entire country.
Your backgrounds, whatever they may be, determine your way of thinking and behaving. Because Sudanese people come from diverse backgrounds, this explains why they have different visions, goals, needs, interests, and contradictory aspirations.
Good leadership is the ability to blend these interests and needs and create a mixture that satisfies the respective needs of the concerned people. The people of Western Sudan have their own problems, challenges, and priorities, likewise, the people of the Middle, Northern, Southern, and Eastern parts of the country have their own respective priorities and issues. The challenge confronting us is that we don’t want to confess that we lack quality leadership that meets that criterion.
I conclude this article by offering advice to the obsolete leaders to gracefully retire and give way to the young 2018 Decemberist leaders. Having ruined the Sudanese political landscape, you must now let these youngsters make their contributions. Seventy years of gross and flagrant failure should have taught you that you are of no use to this bleeding country. Many countries in Africa that gained their political independence much later than us have surpassed us. Failing to practice good governance principles and values is a failure of leadership.
